In this month’s event spotlight, we feature Denise and Joshua’s intimate ceremony.
Save the date
Like many couples in 2020, Denise and Joshua had to downsize their wedding to an intimate ceremony that consisted of just the couple and their closest loved ones. For this boho rustic wedding, the couple chose a neutral color palette of tan, white, and toasted peach enhanced with lush greenery and pampas grass accents.
The boho theme was carried into the couple’s wedding attire through small accents. Denise’s gown was fitted with lace and she wore a long, cathedral-length veil. She forgoed a traditional bouquet for a floral boa that she wore down the aisle. Joshua wore black pants and a shirt with an emerald satin bow tie, chestnut brown suspenders, and boho boutonniere with a rose and Hare’s tail grass aka bunny tails.
At first, Denise and Joshua didn’t want to do a first look, preferring to see each other for the first time at the altar. However, Denise convinced Joshua to do the first look, but she had a different MO.
Before the ceremony, the couple had a faux first look where Denise pranked the groom and sent out the best man in a white wedding dress and a wig pretending to be her. The two men shared a good laugh, and Joshua got his wish to see Denise for the first time walking down the aisle.
This moment perfectly encapsulates the light-hearted and romantic atmosphere of the wedding.
The ceremony followed the boho theme with floor floral installation and a triangular ceremony arch with florals cascading along the sides paired with Flora’s in-house Bentwood chairs.
The wedding procession walked down the aisle to “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, followed by Denise walking down the aisle to “I Get To Love You” by Ruelle. Their recessional song was “Forever” by Chris Brown, an upbeat tune that ended the ceremony on a high note.
The couple performed a unity ceremony where they poured soil into a ZZ plant to symbolize their two families coming together to grow as one. This plant is known to survive for months without water and will grow well in any light, reflecting their enduring love and commitment to one another.
Following the ceremony, the couple chose to have a private first dance with just the two of them after their guests had left the venue, creating a special first moment for the couple as husband and wife.
